Women's History Month Honoring Queen Emma
On March 27, 2024 The Associated Students of the University of Hawaiʻi hosted its first ever women's history month celebration honoring Queen Emma Kalanikaumakaʻamano Kaleleonālani Naʻea Rooke. The event was held in the Campus Ballroom and had special performances by Kumu Hula Hiwa Vaughan and Hālau Hula Ka Lehua Tuahine, the 93rd Lei Queen Natalie Brown Ah Quin, legendary slack key guitarist George Kuo, and inspiring speeches by Josann Meyer Parker Jenks (Queen Emma Hawaiian Civic Club President) and Lt. Governor Sylvia Luke all honoring Queen Emma.

Since the inception of the University of Hawaiʻi, ASUH was established shortly after, and has advocated the needs of students, time and time again from funding to speaking at Washington DC, and in-between. Countless civic leaders trace their humble beginnings taking part in ASUH.
